The opportunity
Butler Concrete & Aggregate Ltd. has an immediate opening at our Victoria, BC location for an experienced Quality Control Technician to join our team. This permanent, full-time position supports our Ready-Mix operations by implementing quality control procedures and ensuring our products meet the required standards. This role includes conducting tests, compiling data, keeping records, and offering technical support to ensure products meet specifications and industry standards.
Butler Concrete & Aggregate Ltd. is unable to provide any sponsorship, and applicants must be able to work in Canada for any employer in a full-time, permanent capacity without sponsorship.
Job Details
Ensure compliance with the Quality Control (QC) program, including inspections, testing, and proper documentation.
Conduct concrete testing (slump, air content, temperature, etc.) at the plant and in the field.
Work closely with Ready-Mix drivers to educate and support on mix designs and quality parameters.
Perform aggregate sampling and burn-off tests.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment as required.
Maintain accurate records of all testing and inspection data.
Provide technical support and feedback to production staff.
Identify and report deficiencies; assist in developing corrective action plans.
Complete paperwork both manually and using computer spreadsheets.
Ensure compliance with CSA standards and company policies.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Champion a safe work culture within the team and worksites.
Additional duties as required.
What you bring
Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or a construction-related field.
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade 1 certification (or obtained within one year of start date), or CCIL Concrete Certification (preferred).
Prior experience in the concrete industry is preferred.
Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles.
Ability to work in industrial conditions (dust, heat, noise, etc.).
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
Knowledge of concrete chemistry and materials.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
