About Roots & Rivers

Roots & Rivers is a values-first consultancy that supports social purpose and public service organizations across Canada. We bring creative, community-centered, and collaborative approaches to enable meaningful social, environmental, and economic change. We offer interconnected services (strategy, facilitation, and evaluation) to support organizations in reaching their desired impact.

How We Work

Roots & Rivers is an ecosystem of individuals collaborating to strengthen the capacity of values-aligned organizations across Canada. Equity, curiosity, transparency and care shape how we work, with our clients and with each other. Our approach is flexible, relational, and grounded in deep respect for the people we work with. Many of our collaborators are independent contractors, and we have the privilege of learning from and with them as Roots & Rivers continues to grow and evolve.

About the Role

We’re looking for a thoughtful, adaptable, purpose-driven strategist, facilitator, and relationship builder to join our team as a Service Lead - Strategy Facilitation. In this role, you’ll design and deliver high-quality strategy facilitation, manage client projects, and help strengthen our network and presence in BC. You’ll work closely with our core team and contractors, nurture strong client relationships, contribute to business development, and contribute to both the delivery and the backbone of our work. You’ll report to the CEO and have autonomy and flexibility in how you deliver your work.

If you’ve seen what’s not working in the social purpose sector and you’re eager to be part of building something more intentional, more thoughtful, and more values-aligned, we’d love to hear from you. Bonus if you’ve sat on a board, have experience in a consultancy or have navigated strategic planning from the inside.

What You’ll Do

Client Service & Delivery

  • Bring leadership to R&R’s strategy facilitation process design

  • Facilitate board and senior-leadership strategy sessions

  • Lead client projects, from scoping to delivery

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups, and research

  • Write clear, insightful summaries of engagement insights

  • Apply equity and anti-oppression principles in all facets of your work

Regional Relationship Building

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with mission-aligned organizations in BC

  • Represent R&R at relevant local events and contribute to visibility in the sector

Project & People Management

  • Manage client projects

  • Manage internal and external collaborators on client work

  • Onboard and support contractors and collaborators

  • Ensure client deliverables are high-quality and aligned with scope

Process Codification & Internal Leadership

  • Develop and improve internal tools, templates, and processes

  • Contribute to operational planning, systems, and strategic development

  • Help shape R&R’s organizational culture and ways of working

Supporting Areas

  • Contribute to business development and proposals

  • Share digital content and insights that reflect R&R’s work and values

What You Bring

  • Expertise in facilitation, strategy, organizational development, or a related field

  • Experience working with social purpose or public service organizations

  • Experience managing complex projects and teams

  • Facilitation expertise and ease (in-person and virtual)

  • Training or experience with equity, anti-oppression, and inclusive practices

  • A collaborative work ethic, balanced with strong self-management

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Tech-savvyness (Google Suite, Zoom, project management tools)

  • Bonus: Experience in a consulting environment

  • Bonus: Facilitation Certification

  • Bonus: Proposal writing and business development experience

What We Offer

  • 3 weeks paid vacation, 2 weeks holiday shutdown in December, 3 paid cultural leave days, paid Birthday off, and a stat holiday swap policy

  • Full employer-paid health benefits after 3 months of employment

  • Professional development fund

  • Flexible, remote work with support for a coworking space if needed

  • A supportive, human-centered team
