As a Mechanical Design Engineer at SMcN, you’ll work collaboratively with project team members, designing and drafting HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You’ll also help with construction admin services for a variety of building projects.

Position Type: Full Time & Permanent
Office Location: Victoria, BC; Remote-Hybrid
Salary: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00, based on experience.
You Will:
Work within the team to design building mechanical systems using Revit and AutoCAD
Support the Project Managers and coordinate designs internally and with other engineering disciplines
Perform system design (heating/cooling) calculations using Excel & simulation software
Perform plumbing service calculations
Assist with construction field reviews
Contribute to maintaining and developing quality control practices
Manage a workload consisting of multiple concurrent projects under the direction of the Project Managers and with the support of the Design Team
Perform various other duties as assigned by the Project Managers
You Bring:
University degree in Mechanical Engineering
P.Eng. designation preferred
5+ years of related design experience
Experience with designing of plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas), HVAC and hydronic systems, fire protection systems, heating and cooling load calculations, and energy analysis and sustainable design (e.g., LEED®) is an asset
Experience in the K-12 Education sector is an asset
Knowledge in Revit & AutoCAD is an asset
Operational knowledge of Windows and Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Experience coordinating a team is an asset
The ability to read construction drawings or construction experience and knowledge is an asset
Knowledge of the BC building, plumbing code and regulations, such as ASHRAE, is an asset
Additional Requirements:
You must be legally permitted to work in Canada
Valid Class 5 driver’s license & vehicle is an asset
Open to travelling (across BC)
